Recovery is Not Linear
The most important thing to understand about mental health recovery is that it does not follow a straight line upward. There will be good days and bad days, breakthroughs and setbacks. This is normal and expected.
Realistic Timelines
- Mild anxiety/depression: Noticeable improvement in 4-8 weeks with consistent self-help practices
- Moderate conditions: 3-6 months with therapy and/or medication
- Severe or chronic conditions: Ongoing management, but significant improvement within 6-12 months of treatment
What to Expect
Weeks 1-4
Building new habits. You may not feel better yet, but you are laying groundwork. Daily practices on SatKarya -- breathing, journaling, community engagement -- start creating change.
Months 2-3
Moments of genuine improvement. You start noticing patterns in your mood tracking.
Months 4-6
New coping skills become automatic. Setbacks still happen but recovery from them is faster.
