Why I Built SatKarya
My name is Gaurav Batule, and I created SatKarya because I believe mental health support should be accessible to everyone — regardless of their financial situation, location, or the stigma they might face.
The Problem I Saw
Growing up in India, I witnessed firsthand how mental health struggles are often dismissed, stigmatized, or simply unaddressed due to lack of affordable resources. Therapy costs thousands of rupees per session. Psychiatrists have months-long waitlists. And the social stigma around mental health means most people suffer in silence.
The SatKarya Solution
SatKarya (from Sanskrit, meaning "good work" or "meaningful action") was built on three principles:
- Free forever: Mental health support should never be behind a paywall
- Privacy first: Anonymity removes the stigma barrier entirely
- Community powered: Peer support is as valuable as professional guidance
Building Manas AI
Manas (meaning "mind" in Sanskrit) is SatKarya's AI companion. I designed Manas to be compassionate, non-judgmental, and always available. Unlike clinical chatbots that follow rigid scripts, Manas aims to truly listen and provide empathetic responses.
What SatKarya Offers
- Anonymous community: Share experiences without revealing your identity
- Manas AI companion: 24/7 empathetic conversation
- Guided exercises: Breathing, grounding, focus, and sleep tools
- Private diary: Encrypted personal journaling
- Crisis resources: Immediate access to helplines and safety information
- Mood tracking: Understand your emotional patterns over time
The Vision Ahead
SatKarya is just the beginning. My vision is to create a comprehensive mental wellness ecosystem that bridges the gap between self-help and professional care — making mental health support as accessible as messaging a friend.
If SatKarya has helped you, share it with someone who might need it. Together, we can make mental wellness accessible to all.
